Last Beach Trip for the Summer of 2009

So on August 17, 2009, about 16-20 of the youth in our Harvest congregation decided to make one last beach trip before the end of summer of 2009. Orange/Seminole county both start on August 24 so we officially have SIX DAYS LEFT OF SUMMER!!!! Where did the past three months go? In any event, I was able to get a couple pictures. Enjoy!

We drove a total of six cars each having around 4-5 people each except for one car which had two people; here are four of the six. The other two cars decided to find a surf shop and rent some surfboards for the day.

These actually arent ripples but instead they were really different colored sand and just TINY grooves in the sand.

The bean-bag game with volleyball where if you mess up, you go in the center of the circle and the people around can spike the volleyball at you, BUT if you catch the ball while remaining on the floor, you can get out... So Yeaseong decided to do so.

There was a short rain shower about 1.5 miles north of where we were. It passed by pretty quick but still looked intimidating.

And so overall it was a pretty good trip. Besides a couple cars getting stuck in the sand and the unexpected high tide, the trip was fun. Couple sunburns here and there but it was a good way to spend our LAST MONDAY before school starts. Hopefully more pictures of our last summer activities from this week will be up soon as well.

8-11-09 Meteor Shower

So around 1 in the morning, me and Lisa drove out to an area in Lake County in hopes to see the Perseid Meteor shower which is best to see from August 11 to the 12. The best times are supposed to be a couple hours before dawn but seeing that we we're going to wait 4 more hours, we decided to go out around 1. We didn't see a HUGE shower but we about 5 or 6. Here are some pictures. My camera settings were: shutter speed of 30" and f/stop 1.8, ISO 100. Here are a couple pictures of the night, NOT THE METEOR SHOWER!

This is actually the moon. The glare is from the long shutter speed but the main subject in the moon.

I was able to capture this cloud that had a bunch of lightning activity going on. It was actually pretty cool.

And of course, one pose for the camera... A little dark but you get the point.

Overall, it was quite what I expected but it was still pretty cool. I was expecting a MASSIVE shower of shooting stars but only saw about 6. If you can get the chance to go see them, take it. It was definitely something not everybody gets to see. Best times are probably around 4 or 5 AM. Get to a dark area where city lights are not a factor and just lay down on the floor on or on your car and just watch the sky. You won’t be disappointed if you see a shooting star. Trust me!

Rock Climbing

Last Friday, about 11 or 12 of us went rock climbing at Aiguille Rock Climbing Center. It was tons of fun and amazing times of fellowship and laughs. For about $16, we learned how to tie our own knots, belay, and got out gear and was able to rock climb and boulder all day. Here are a couple pictures.

Towards the end. Everybody was tired but wanting to go up again.

This wall took Hong 30 min to get up. But he finally did it. Only one person finished this, Hong Sin.

This was a wall for the pros who don't have any belaying devices, it's just them and a hook which they move up at their own pace.

So overall, it was really fun and a good workout. Hopefully we'll go again soon.

Happy Birthday Yeari!

So last thursday, we celebrated Yeari Han's 19th birthday. I didn't take many pictures but I did take pictures after we caked her with a "Golden 3-Layer cake". Here are some pictures taken with Joey Jeong's Canon Rebel XT.

Just some fooling around. Here's the finger tasting part.... Which is actually gross cause she licked some icing off of her finger which came off of her face.

And here is where it get's a little worse because Hong was gracious enough to rub in some Nutella (Upper left hand corner of her head).

Overall, it was a fun time of fellowship and laughs. The food was awesome, the bodning time was awesome, and it was definitely a blessed time. Happy birthday Yeari Noona!

At last, A logo....

So I started to wonder how I could retain full copyright on my photos. I mean, there is nothing stopping a person from saving a picture off my blog and printing the picture at their home or Walgreens. So I asked a friend of mine to see if he could make a watermark/logo that I could put on my pictures. His name is Eric Pait and he is a photographer as well. Here's what it came out to look like.

Overall, I’m pretty excited. Even though I'm only 15, my photography is starting to get more and more... serious. Hopefully, I can begin to get more recognized in the photography industry and start doing small event like graduation parties, senior glamour shots, etc.

Good Luck Ecuador Mission Team

Today, around 1:30 PM, a couple of us met at the Orlando International Airport to send off the 2009 Ecuador Mission team. Their flight left around 3:30 PM headed for Miami. From Miami, they are flying into Quito, Ecuador where they will spend the night at a missionaries apartment; Yonchu Song. From Wednesday to Saturday, they will be traveling back and forth between Lumbaqui and Sinangue to spread God's word to the unreached people of the Cofan tribe. The team will be there from Monday to Saturday (August 3, 2009-August 8, 2009). Lets pray for the following.

1. Safety- lots of small crime in Quito – theft, pickpockets, etc.
   - in Lumbaqui, we're staying at a HOSTEL. We are “targets” because we are American and we look different so please pray for safety here.
   - the road from Lumbaqui to Sinangue is similar to the road from Jericho...kinda dangerous. The roads are secluded and go through the jungle where lots of guerillas from Colombia hide out. Shouldn’t be a huge deal, but please pray for safety.
   - after traveling this road, we have to CROSS A RIVER to get to the Cofan people. We have to walk thru the river for 5 minutes, then take a canoe the rest of the way in prety deep water. We will have to wear boots because of SNAKES.
   - at the construction site in Sinangue, there are lots of INSECTS! We got all our recommended shots and pills (yellow fever, typhoid, malaria, tetanus, hepatitus A & B) and will have to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants.
2. Lumbaqui and the Cofan people (pray for unity, compassion, power, boldness, courage, miracles, strength, that our light will shine, to be led by the Holy Spirit, and other things you pray for missionaries about)
3. The ministries (pray for unity, compassion, power, boldness, courage, miracles, strength, that our light will shine, to be led by the Holy Spirit, and other things you pray for missionaries about)

On the team is, Pastor DL, Pastor Goose, Albert Kang, Joseph Kim, Soo Ha, YeaSeong Han, Monica Lee, Matt Lim.

Let's continue to pray for them throughout this week.

Welcome Back DR Mision Team Part II

This past Friday and Sunday, the 2009 DR Mission Team shared testimonies of just what they experienced while they were in the DR.

Overall, the trip was a huge blessing. God moved in ways that no one expected and the missionaries and people of the DR were more blessed than you could imagine. Praise God for his merciful and unconditional love.

OCBC Beach Retreat 7/28/09 - 7/31/09

So from July 28 to July 31, OCBC had their FIRST Beach Retreat. The theme of their retreat was.... "Transformers of Community". We stayed at a beach house in Clearwater, FL. The whole retreat was very relaxed but still a blessed time. Here are some pictures.

Overall, it was definitely a blessed retreat. God moved in so many ways and was just so gracious throughout the whole retreat. Let's pray that our hearts would continue to pray and love Christ even at home.
